The new construction will be on three acres of land.
Under the re-development project of the Housing Board, 268 LIG flats of Indore which are more than 30 years old will be demolished and made new. New flats will be made free of cost to the people living here. There are 268 flats built on about 3 acres of land. After breaking them, some part of the land will be sold for commercial use and new flats will be made. This re-development project will be completed at a cost of about Rs 150 crore.
Under the re-development policy, apart from LIG of Indore, approval has been given to re-develop Ravi Shankar Market of Bhopal and Hathi Tal of Jabalpur. LIG will be the first re-development project of Indore. The board will also earn about Rs 23 crore from the projects. These projects have been approved by the Empowered Committee in Bhopal on Tuesday under the chairmanship of CS Iqbal Singh Bais.
In the meeting, Housing Board Commissioner Chandramouli Shukla placed the plan of these three projects before the committee. All the three projects were made years back by the board itself. At present they are dilapidated. Neeraj Mandloi, Principal Secretary, Urban Development Department says that after making profits, these projects will become examples. Whatever additional money will be received, it is going to be used on infrastructure. It has many other suggestions along with flyovers. Soon opinion will also be taken from public and experts.
