The team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) raided half a dozen places including the house of Senior High Court advocate A Usmani at Omati, Jabalpur’s Badi Ghantaghar late night. A team of about a dozen IPS officers and 200 policemen, who arrived from Delhi and Bhopal, surrounded the entire area. The main road was closed and the entire area was converted into a cantonment.

Advocate A. The raid at Usmani’s house came after the police remand of the suspects arrested in other cities in connection with foreign arms and terror funding ended. The NIA team reached the advocate’s house at 11 pm on Friday night. The team went inside and started investigation and questioning. As soon as the action started, barricades were placed at both ends of the road at Ghantaghar and Omati. The movement was completely stopped. Jabalpur SP Tushar Kant student also reached later.

NIA has taken this action at 2 places in the city’s Civil Line, 2 places in Badi Omati and Adhartal. While the NIA was conducting operations around Abdul Razzaq’s house in Badi Omati, the police snatched the mobiles of the media persons. Information has been received that the houses of Maqsood Kabadi and Ahad Ullah Ansari have been raided.

Police sent people who came out of their homes

With the commencement of the operation, the movement was completely stopped at Ghantaghar and Omati by placing barricades at both the ends. Only police vehicles were visible on the road. People from the surrounding also started coming out of the houses, who were stopped by the police force and instructed to stay inside.

Important inputs were received in statewide action

NIA had recently caught suspicious elements by raiding in Barwani, Seoni, Bhind and Khandwa etc. while taking statewide action. He was also interrogated extensively, after which many inputs related to foreign funding and weapons were found. Experts say that NIA took action on this basis.
