The sanitation workers of the municipality are on strike for the last 4 days in the city. Due to which the whole city has turned into a pile of garbage. Garbage is spread from the main roads to the small streets of the locality. Municipal President and CMO had convinced the cleaning staff 2 days ago by convincing them, but the cleaning staff did not return to work.
In fact, 1 month ago, the sanitation workers went on strike regarding their 8-point demands. The sweepers were on strike for 2 days. Then the chairman of the municipality himself along with the councilors had collected the garbage by sweeping the city. The next day a meeting of the cleaning workers was called and assured to meet their demands.
After the assurance of NAPA President and CMO, the sweepers had returned to work. But even after a month their demands were not met. Due to which the sanitation workers have once again started an indefinite strike from June 11. Due to which once again the cleanliness system of the city has completely collapsed.
Agreement was reached on Monday
Municipality President Abdul Ghaffar said that a meeting was held with the cleaning staff on Monday. In which assurance was given to fulfill their four demands. The employees had distributed sweets in the office and promised to return to work from the evening itself, but the employees were misled by the people of the opposing side.
Tender for temporary arrangement
NAPA President said that to make the cleaning system smooth, a tender has been taken out for temporary cleaning. Whichever contractor will give consent within 7 days. By giving him the contract of cleaning, cleanliness will be done in the city. He said that notice has also been issued to the permanent employees who are involved in the strike.
