Mumbai Major equity indices rose in early trade on Tuesday amid fresh buying by foreign funds and continued gains in IT stocks.
This is the third consecutive day when the market showed a positive trend.
During this, the 30-share Sensex of BSE climbed 187.61 points to reach 62,151.29. The NSE Nifty was up 69.35 points at 18,383.75. Infosys, Bajaj Finserv, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, HCL Technologies, Tech Mahindra, Wipro, Tata Consultancy Services, Asian Paints and ITC were among the major gainers in the Sensex pack.
On the other hand, Titan, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Bharti Airtel, Mahindra & Mahindra and Tata Motors declined. In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Kospi and Japan’s Nikkei were in the green, while China’s Shanghai Composite Index and Hong Kong’s Hangseng Was in red mark. US markets closed sharply on Monday.
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net Rs 922.89 crore on Monday, according to provisional data of the stock market. Meanwhile, global oil benchmark Brent crude climbed 0.29 per cent to USD 76.21 per barrel. Sensex on Monday It closed at 61,963.68, up 234 points or 0.38 per cent, while the broader Nifty closed at 18,314.40, up 111 points or 0.61 per cent.
