Share Market Update: Sensex down 251 points in early trade


Mumbai Local stock markets also opened with a decline on Wednesday amid a weak trend in global markets. Market participants turned cautious as they awaited details of the US central bank’s May meeting. The 30-share BSE Sensex was flat in early trade.

251.26 points broke down to 61,730.53 points. The National Stock Exchange’s Nifty was trading at 18,269.70 points with a loss of 78.3 points. ICICI Bank, HDFC Bank, HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finserv, UltraTech Cement and Tata Motors were among the losers in the Sensex companies.

Power Grid, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Maruti Suzuki, Tech Mahindra, ITC and NTPC were among the gainers. In other Asian markets, South Korea’s Cospi, Japan’s Nikkei, China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hangseng were in the red.
