These days we are seeing the example of climate change in the form of rains in April and May. We need to save natural resources. Keeping this in mind, 14 students of the School of Planning and Architecture recently worked on the Climate Resilience Plan of 14 villages in Alirajpur and Chhatarpur, two districts of Madhya Pradesh. In this, not only the students gave the idea of saving natural resources, but also gave action plans to stop migration and ground level recharge. Told how Alirajpur and Chhatarpur can overcome the problem of drought and migration.
Professor Rama Pandey of SPA Bhopal said that every time we send students for some ground study as a studio project. This time, under this, a plan was made to study 14 villages, which are similar in nature to a large extent. The report has been shared with UNICEF. Through this, it has now reached the officials of State Pollution Control Board, Panchayati Raj, Disaster Management Institute, State Knowledge Center on Climate Change, MP State Policy and Planning.
Planning for displacement of 60 houses from submerged area
Shaili Agarwal, a student working on the research, says that we worked for 14 days in Alirajpur. After this, this report was prepared in 4 months. In this, it was said that in fact the main problem of Alirajpur is the remoteness of the settlement there. Due to this, the government scheme is not able to work there in the fixed model. There are about 60 houses here, which come in the submergence area. We have identified pockets where small reservoirs can be created. Rain water can be stored in these. Along with this, it has been suggested to plant saplings of local species in the submergence area villages and their places. This will lead to water trapping and Bhooljal star will also increase.
Silt trap, dairy farming will help
On the other hand, the biggest problem in Chhatarpur is the drought here. The land here is such that it does not allow water to enter the earth. Also, the brother is such that only such crops can be grown in the fields, which need more water, due to the hilly area, even when the rain water collects in the ponds, it washes away a lot of soil along with it. This reduces the depth of the ponds. Gradually their water capacity decreases. For this, we have given options for using silt trap, dairy farming, biogas plant, so that there is no need to work hard again and again for deepening the ponds, summer migration can stop and resources are available from new types of employment.
