China is ready to work with Russia to push their pragmatic cooperation in various fields to a higher level, said Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang on Wednesday. China and Russia are scheduled to sign bilateral agreements today during a visit to Beijing by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

Li said during a meeting in Mishustin that the pragmatic cooperation between China and Russia has been developing well, and the volume of investment between the two countries is constantly developing.

Mishustin is the highest ranking Russian official to visit Beijing since Moscow launched the war on Ukraine in February 2022.

The Russian official held talks with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Li Keqiang, and the Russian “Interfax” agency stated that “as a result of the talks, a number of bilateral agreements are scheduled to be signed,” without elaborating.

The Russian Prime Minister said yesterday that the strengthening of Russian-Chinese relations will positively affect the economies of the two countries, adding that the volume of trade exchange may reach 200 billion dollars this year.

According to Chinese customs data, Chinese exports to Russia continued to rise in April, jumping 153.1% year on year.

The visit comes after angry reactions from Russia and China over the statements made against them during the G-7 summit held in Japan at the weekend.
