The English Football Association announced today, Friday, that Manchester City, the triple champion, will open the 2023-2024 season against Arsenal for the Community Shield title, on August 6, in a traditional start to the Premier League season.
And with the crowning of “City” with the league and FA Cup titles, (league runners-up) Arsenal will participate in the match at Wembley Stadium.
Arsenal finished the league by 5 points behind “City”, after wasting its lead for a long period of the season.
And last year, the Community Shield match between “City” and Liverpool was held at the “King Power” stadium of Leicester City, due to Wembley’s preoccupation with the European Women’s Championship final.
The new Premier League season begins on August 11, when City (European Champion) will visit promoted Burnley.
