The security official for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Ziad Khoury, submitted his resignation from his post after being suspended from work for “inappropriate behavior” towards a woman, officials said Sunday.
The official bulletin for the 2024 Summer Games stated that “Khoury’s duties were terminated at his request.”
Khoury, 53, was the subject of a complaint after making inappropriate remarks towards a woman during a trip to London in December 2021.
The French Ministry of the Interior said that Khoury was suspended from work on March 21 as a “precautionary measure” pending an administrative investigation.
The outcome of this investigation was to be announced “within a month”, but its results have not yet been revealed.
According to one source, the commission of inquiry in charge of the investigation found that there was no reason for the case to be reported in the French justice system “in complete independence and with respect to the elements it had in its possession at the time of its conclusion”.
However, according to the same source, there were other allegations against Khoury, who was appointed to the government position in June 2021.
Prior to assuming the role, Khoury had notably managed security during the UEFA Euro 2016 football tournament in France.
His successor has not yet been announced.
