British police said they were facing an “ongoing serious incident” in the central English city of Nottingham, which led to the closure of many roads.

Reuters reported that the photos on Twitter show cordoned off areas and a heavy presence of emergency services and officers from various agencies, coordinating police, ambulance and fire response.

Nottinghamshire Police said on Twitter that 6 roads had been closed and would provide further updates in due course. The city’s tram network said it had suspended operations until further notice due to the incident.
