A 5.5-magnitude earthquake strikes off the coast of California, USA

A 5.5-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Northern California on Sunday, the European Mediterranean Seismological Center said.

The US Geological Survey stated that the epicenter of the quake was in the Pacific Ocean, north of California, at a depth of two kilometers.

According to the US agency, the earthquake’s distance from the land led to the lack of a high degree of it being recorded on the coasts of California.

And US media indicated that there were no reports of injuries or damage immediately after the earthquake.

According to the seismic intensity scale, an earthquake is considered very strong if its intensity ranges between 6 and 7 degrees.
