Irish mixed martial arts star Conor McGregor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman during the NBA Finals in Miami last week, according to several US reports Thursday.

ESPN and TMZ Sports quoted messages from the victim’s lawyer saying that MacGregor, 34, “violently” assaulted her in a bathroom at Cassia Center during the fourth game between the Miami Heat and the Denver Nuggets last Friday.

According to the documents, MacGregor “forcefully” kissed his victim, before trying to force her to perform multiple sexual acts.

MacGregor denied the allegations in a statement emailed to Agence France-Presse, attorney Barbara Lines, asserting, “The allegations are false. Mr. MacGregor will not be intimidated.”

On the other hand, Miami Police confirmed that its Special Victims Unit is investigating a report submitted last Sunday.

“This is an open investigation, so no additional information can be released at this time,” a Miami police statement said, without naming McGregor.

In the same context, the Miami Heat and the National League “NBA” confirmed that they are aware of the reports and the investigation.

“We are aware of these allegations and are conducting a full investigation. Pending the outcome of the investigation, we will withhold any further comment,” Heat said in a statement.

McGregor had sparked controversy during a time-out during the game when he punched the Miami Heat mascot after he appeared on the field with the aim of filming a previously planned promotional advertisement. The person wearing the mascot costume was later taken to a local hospital to receive medical treatment and painkillers before returning home.

McGregor is one of the most famous names in combat sports, and he knew many controversial events inside and outside the mixed martial arts arena, the most famous of which was the fight that brought him together with veteran American boxer Floyd Mayweather in Las Vegas in August 2017, which ended in favor of the latter in the tenth round.

The bout brought in more than $600 million in total revenue, while McGregor, a former plumber from Dublin, earned around $100 million.

The Irishman, who achieved 22 victories during his career and won the featherweight and lightweight titles, also pleaded guilty to hitting a man in a bar in Ireland, and he was charged with smashing the mobile phone of a fan in the US state of Florida, and he was also subject to investigation in his country on charges of sexual assault as well.
