Esperance Club, one of the most prominent clubs in the Tunisian Football Premier League, announced its contract with the “son of the club”, coach Moine Chaabani, today, Monday.
Al-Taraji wrote – through his Facebook account – that the club’s management had contracted with “the club’s son, Moein Al-Shaabani, as a coach for the senior football team,” provided that Magdi Tarawi takes over the position of assistant coach.
Taraji did not disclose the details or the duration of the contract with Al-Shaabani.
Al-Shaabani will thus return to training Esperance, with whom he won the CAF Champions League title in 2018 and 2019, to succeed coach Nabil Maaloul, who resigned after losing 0-3 at home to Al-Ahly of Egypt in the first leg of the Champions League semi-finals this month.

Al-Shaabani, 41, said – in a video message to the private Mosaique radio station – yesterday, Sunday, after arriving in Tunisia from Egypt, that training Esperance is “the ambition of any coach anywhere.”
After Al-Shaabani’s departure from Al-Taraji in 2021, he moved to coach Al-Masry Al-Port Said, before taking over the training of Al-Masry Ceramica this season.
Esperance occupies fifth place in the crowning stage of the Tunisian League, with 11 points, 8 points behind the leading Etoile du Sahel, but the defending champion played a lesser match and will face Ittihad Tataouine tomorrow, Tuesday.
