Asia Cup venue to be decided after IPL final: BCCI secretary


New Delhi. Board of Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah said on Thursday that the venue of the Asia Cup will be decided in a meeting outside the IPL final in which the top officials of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) will participate.

Jai Shah told PTI,;; The venue of the Asia Cup has not been decided yet. We were busy with IPL but top officials of Sri Lanka Cricket, Bangladesh and Afghanistan Cricket Board are coming to watch the IPL Final. We will discuss it and decide at the appropriate time.

This year, the host of the Asia Cup is Pakistan, but the Indian cricket team cannot travel to the neighboring country without the permission of the central government, and in such a situation, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi proposed a hybrid model in which four matches will be played. can be organized in their country.

According to ACC sources, according to Sethi’s formula, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Nepal and Afghanistan will play four league stage matches in Pakistan while India will play their matches at neutral venues. The match between India and Pakistan can be played in Sri Lanka although the PCB wants the match to be played in Dubai.

ACC sources told PTI on condition of confidentiality. ACC chief Jai Shah will convene an executive board meeting where a final announcement will be made in this regard. PCB has no problem playing against India at a neutral venue although it wants to hold the match in Dubai. The Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from September 1 to 17 this year.
