New Delhi. The first qualifier match of Indian Premier League 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans was watched by 2.5 crore ‘concurrent’ viewers (viewers watching live streaming at the same time) on Jio Cinemas which is a record.
According to the release issued here, Jio Cinema not only broke its own record for the third time in this season but also equaled the world record set during the semi-final match between India and New Zealand during the ICC World Cup 2019. In the first qualifier, Chennai defeated the defending champions. Defeated Gujarat by 15 runs and entered the final for the tenth time.
Earlier on April 17, the match played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and CSK in Bengaluru was watched by 2.4 crore concurrent viewers. At the same time, the match played between CSK and Rajasthan Royals on April 12 got 2.2 crore concurrent viewers. In the first five weeks of the current season of IPL, Geo Cinema has got more than 1300 crore video views.
