New Delhi. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar while praising Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya said that the calmness he brings to the team reminds him of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Under the captaincy of Pandya, Titans have reached the IPL finals for the second consecutive time. He defeated the five-time champions Mumbai Indians by 62 runs in the second qualifier. Gavaskar told Star Sports, “Hardik has repeatedly said that he is a big fan of Dhoni. Both will have smiles on their faces when they come out for the toss and it will be in a very friendly atmosphere.
He said, “But the atmosphere in the match will be different. Hardik Pandya has a golden opportunity to show how fast he has learned.” He was already an exciting cricketer. But in the last one year we have seen that the calmness he brings to the team is reminiscent of Dhoni.
It is a happy team like CSK. Hardik gets a lot of credit for this. Gavaskar also gave the credit to coach Ashish Nehra for the Titans’ success. He said, “I will also give credit to Nehra.” He is such a person whether you are in the changing room or in the commentary box, you will be laughing. He makes life very easy and has a great understanding of cricket.”
He said, “Titans are the best team and have been at the top of the league stage. He had three points more than Chennai Super Kings. They have reached the finals only by performing well in the league stage. “Chennai is well aware that the challenge ahead of them is not easy.”
